Church Calendar and Special Events

Every year Mt. Sylvan has a number of annual events that fill our calendar with family events

  • Holy week at Mt sylvan

    • Maundy Thursday Service - Thursday before Easter.
    • Good Friday Service - A Tenebrae Service of Darkness the Friday before Easter
    • Easter Services - 8:30 am on Easter Sunday we gather in Mt. Sylvan's front lawn to praise the resurrection of the risen Christ! 10:30 am we have our traditional Easter service in the Sanctuary.
  • Pumpkin Patch - Every October

During the entire month of October Mt. Sylvan becomes "The Pumpkin Church" (#pumpkinchurchdurham). We were given this name because of the South lawn of the Campus being littered with orange orbs of all sizes that are sold to local residents as a Northern Durham tradition that supports the Children and Youth Ministries of our church. For more information on volunteering in the patch or purchasing pumpkins contact Youth Coordinator, Libba McClusky at libba@mtsylvan.org

  • Fall Festival - Every October

Every October the United Women in Faith of Mt. Sylvan put on this family-friendly festival to raise funds for missions and outreach and raise the spirits of the Northern Durham Community. The Festival Features:

    • Homemade Breakfast Biscuits
    • BBQ Lunch
    • Homemade Baked Goods
    • Crafts
    • Silent and Live Auctions
    • Free children's activities

  • Christmas Cantata - Mid December

Christmas Music Program featuring traditional and contemporary music by adult & children’s choirs, Praise Band, Mt. Sylvan Ringers, soloists, and instrumentalists.
